Prayers to the Sacred Heart

Morning Offering to the Sacred Heart

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all our associates, and in particular for the intentions of our Holy Father for this month.
Amen

Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

NOTE: There are several prayers that are used here as “Acts of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus”. It is not so much the words in the prayer but rather the faith in one’s heart that makes the difference. We do not choose prayers because of the feelings and emotions they give us but rather because of the meaning and weight of words we say to God. Words are weapons and should not be used without the motivation of the will. Remember it is in the Word that the whole world was created; God spoke then the thing came to be.

Our feelings, which are of the physical senses, are easily fooled … to test this go into a smelly room and stay there a while; your senses become de-sensitized to the horrible surroundings. Therefore choose prayers with words that convey the meaning in your heart keeping in mind that God is much wiser than you are and He will judge the conviction in your heart and the motivation of the will.

Prayer 1
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, to Thee I consecrate and offer up my person and my life, my actions, trials, and sufferings, that my entire being may henceforth only be employed in loving, honouring and glorifying Thee. This is my irrevocable will, to belong entirely to Thee, and to do all for Thy love, renouncing with my whole heart all that can displease Thee.

I take Thee, O Sacred Heart, for the sole object of my love, the protection of my life, the pledge of my salvation, the remedy of my frailty and inconstancy, the reparation for all the defects of my life, and my secure refuge at the hour of my death. Be Thou, O Most Merciful Heart, my justification before God Thy Father, and screen me from His anger, which I have so justly merited. I fear all from my own weakness and malice, but placing my entire confidence in Thee, O Heart of Love, I hope all from Thine infinite Goodness. Annihilate in me all that can displease or resist Thee. Imprint Thy pure love so deeply in my heart that I may never forget Thee or be separated from Thee.

I beseech Thee, through Thine infinite Goodness, grant that my name be engraved upon Thy Heart, for in this I place all my happiness and all my glory, to live and to die as one of Thy devoted servants.
Amen.

Prayer 2
I give myself and consecrate to Thy Sacred Heart O Lord Jesus Christ, my person and my life, my actions, pains and sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being other than to honor, love and glorify Thy Sacred Heart. This is my unchanging purpose, namely, to be all Thine, and to do all things for love of Thee, at the same time renouncing with all my heart whatever is displeasing to Thee. I therefore take Thee, O Sacred Heart, to be the only object of my love, the guardian of my life, my assurance of salvation, the remedy of my weakness and inconstancy, the atonement for all the faults of my life and my sure refuge at the hour of death.

Be then, O Heart of goodness, my justification before Almighty God the Father, and turn away from me the strokes of his righteous anger. O Heart of love, I put all my confidence in Thee, for I fear everything from my own wickedness and frailty, but I hope for all things from Thy goodness and bounty.

Remove from me all that can displease Thee or resist Thy holy will; let Thy pure love imprint Thy image so deeply upon my heart, that I shall never be able to forget Thee or to be separated from Thee.

May I obtain from all Thy loving kindness the grace of having my name written in Thy Heart, for in Thee I desire to place all my happiness and glory, living and dying in bondage to Thee.
Amen.

Prayer 3
TO You, most sacred Heart of Jesus, I devote my life. To You I consecrate all my thoughts, words, actions, and sufferings. My whole being shall be employed henceforth in loving, serving, and glorifying You. Be Thou, most blessed and adorable Heart, the sole object of my love, the protector of my life, the pledge of my salvation, and my secure refuge at the hour of my death. Be Thou my advocate at the throne of Divine Justice, and screen me from the wrath, which my sins deserve.

I trust entirely in your mercy. I place all my confidence in You. Destroy in me all that is displeasing to You. Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine. Imprint Thyself like a seal upon my heart in order that I may never be separated from You. May I be a victim forever consecrated to your glory - ever burning with the flames of your pure love in time and for eternity. This is my whole desire - to live, in You: This shall be my happiness, to live and die as your devoted servant. Sweet Heart of Jesus, I implore that I may love You more and more.
Amen.

V. Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us.

R. Inflame our hearts with love of You.

Let us pray
Lord, we beseech You, let your Holy Spirit kindle in our hearts that fire of charity which Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, sent forth from His inmost heart upon this earth, and willed that it should burn with vehemence. Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the same Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer 4 (Used by the Apostleship of Prayer)
Lord Jesus Christ, I want to give myself to you completely.  When I see your Sacred Heart, I reflect upon your love. You came from the Father taking a human body with a human heart. You taught us to love God with all our hearts. You suffered and died to save us from sin and death. As you hung on the cross, your Heart was pierced by a lance.
Out of it poured blood and water to signify the birth of your Church.
You rose from the dead, Jesus, to live forever with your Father in Heaven. But your heart is still pierced, full of love for us. You still feel pain when people reject or ignore your presence in your brothers and sisters. You rejoice when people heal that pain by serving your little ones, the poor and the needy.

I now consecrate myself to your Sacred Heart, Jesus. You are the Son of God whom I love with all my heart. I offer you my body, my soul, my mind, and my heart. Receive me, make me holy, make my heart like your Heart, and guide me in the way of perfect love today and every day of my life.
Amen.

Prayer 5
O, Queen of Heaven, My most loving Mother, I (name) though full of weakness and quite unworthy, yet encouraged by the gracious invitation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, desire to consecrate myself entirely to Him. Conscious of my own unworthiness and inconstancy, I desire to offer everything through your maternal hands, and with childlike trust in your loving care, I look to you to assist me in the fulfilment of my resolutions.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, King of love and goodness, full of recognition for Your Favors, freely and with all my so do I accept this pact between You and me.  I shall care for Your interests, and you will care for mine.  I wish everything of mine to be Yours and place everything in Your hands:  my soul, my eternal salvation, my freedom, my interior progress, my wants, my body, my life and my health.  I place in Your hands the small number of good works I am able to perform or which others will offer for me during my life or after my death, if I can be of service to you.

I also place in your hands my family, my possessions, my work, that you may be King of everything that is mine and may dispose of them according to your pleasure.  I for my part will do my best in all these affairs, but I shall rest contented with whatever your loving Heart decided in my behalf, difficult though it may be.

In return, I ask that that the time still left to me not be wasted.  I desire to do something important and useful that You may reign in the world:  By my prayer and aspirations, by my daily tasks, by the suffering which I accept here and now, by my little acts of self-denial.  I desire that every moment of my life be spent in promoting and establishing your divine Kingdom.  May Your seal be on everything I do until the end of my allotted time, and then may my last breath be spent in words of love of Your most Sacred Heart.
Amen
